Southeastern Kentucky - Reclaiming Futures in the Mountains of Kentucky

About Us  |  Our Team   |  News  |  Media

Reclaiming Futures in the Mountains of Kentucky was one of the first 10 projects funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to create new ways to help teens in trouble with drugs, alcohol and crime. We partnered with the courts, treatment facilities, juvenile justice, and communities in eight counties in the Appalachian Mountains to bring about this change.

At Reclaiming Futures in the Mountains of Kentucky, we have improved the quality of alcohol and drug treatment services available to youth in our justice system in the following ways:

  • Systematically assessed teens in the juvenile justice system for substance use
  • Provided drug and alcohol treatment to these youth and promoting accountability
  • Connected them with jobs, schools, and volunteer opportunities
  • Streamlined services and resources among agencies and counties
  • Influenced statewide reform in this area
