Debbie Sweet, project director
Debbie Sweet has been a juvenile court counselor with the Multnomah County Juvenile Services Division for the past 20 years. Most recently she served as Treatment Expediter, a title that came out of the Reclaiming Futures grant. In this role, Debbie helps connect young people who have alcohol and drug issues to services outside of the juvenile justice realm. She is also the liaison between juvenile justice and community treatment providers.
Hon. Nan G. Waller, judicial fellow
Judge Nan G. Waller was appointed to the Multnomah County Circuit Court Bench in 2001 and is now the chief family law judge in Multnomah County. Prior, she served as a juvenile court referee/pro tem circuit court judge for 12 years. She serves on the Child Welfare advisory committee, the Oregon Youth Authority advisory committee, the Permanency Planning for Children advisory committee for the National Council of Family and Juvenile Court Judges. Judge Waller also chairs Multnomah County's Juvenile Justice Council and Wraparound Oregon, a community initiative to help children with mental health issues.
Thach Nguyen, justice fellow
Thach Nguyen is a manager with Multnomah County (Oregon) Department of Community Justice. He has worked with at-risk youth and families for more than 20 years. As a member of the Oregon Juvenile Crime Prevention Cultural and Gender Competency Subcommittee, he has been coordinating and providing cultural competency training to juvenile justice professionals and social service providers. Thach has served on the Portland Police Chief's Forum and the Multnomah County Commission on Children Families and Community. He is a founder of the Asian Family Center in Portland.
Pat Garner, M.Ed., CADCIII, treatment fellow
Pat is the lead therapist at Cascadia Behavior Healthcare in the youth integrated program where she provides assessments; individual, family, and group counseling; and addiction treatment. Pat has more than 20 years experience in integrated clinical treatment with youth and families. She is a certified alcohol and drug counselor III, and a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
