The Model

The Reclaiming Futures model helps communities improve the way they work with youth involved in the juvenile justice and substance abuse treatment systems.

The model is a tool to help communities coordinate the way the courts, service providers, community groups and individual volunteers work together to help teens in trouble.

The Reclaiming Futures model is much more than a new perspective. It asks the juvenile justice and drug treatment systems to invite volunteers and community groups to help reclaim young people by providing them with professional services and engaging them in new opportunities.

Ideally, the approach suggested by the Reclaiming Futures model will be endorsed — if not led — by the juvenile court and juvenile court judges. But the legal process is not a solution by itself r rather a way to leverage resources and bring communities together to reclaim our young people.
