About Us  |  Our Team  |  News  |  Media

Reclaiming Futures Cumberland County, is one of six North Carolina sites initiated in October 2008. Funded by the Robert Wood Johnson and Kate B. Reynolds Foundations, RF Cumberland County is designed to provide a collaborative community approach to helping teens caught in the cycle of drugs, alcohol, and crime. Cumberland County is fortunate to have a very supportive community, actively engaged in changing the lives of young people. It is our goal to use these working relationships to enhance available resources and establish new partnerships.

According to data collected by the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention from 2007-2008, 22 percent of youth in the juvenile justice system in Cumberland County indicated substance abuse concerns and needed additional assessment and treatment. Thirty percent reported that they lack pro-social peers and associate with other youth in trouble.

At Reclaiming Futures Cumberland County, we are dedicated to improving the drug and alcohol treatment services available to youth and their families and providing positive alternatives to teen substance use. We hope to accomplish this by doing the following:

  • Providing improved access to drug and alcohol treatment services
  • Ensuring individualized, coordinated care for each youth involved, and
  • Promoting enhanced community involvement
