Leadership

Reclaiming Futures has a leadership team at each of its sites working to make their local project successful. Each team is comprised of five leaders in key areas such as the courts, probation, treatment and community. Members of these teams also participate in the Reclaiming Futures Fellowship, a national leadership program where they exchange information and ideas on an ongoing basis, meet in-person once a year, receive professional development, and advance the goals of the initiative. The five fellowships are as follows:

Project Directors – This person coordinates the community leadership team at its location and makes sure everyone is working together to meet project goals.

Judges – Judges have a unique capacity to mobilize attention and support, so each site has enlisted the leadership of one or more prominent judges. The judge not only is able to directly influence the treatment teens receive, but also can promote change within the judicial system that could affect the way all teens are treated by the courts in the future.

Juvenile Justice – Probation officers and court administrators supervise and guide a young person as they make their way through the juvenile justice system. Their direct access to youth gives them an important role in helping Reclaiming Futures succeed.

Treatment Providers – Treatment providers assess substance abuse problems, help teens overcome drug and alcohol abuse, and together with their families, begin the process of building a drug-free life. Treatment providers use evidence-based, developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant approaches.

Community Members – Mobilizing the community to support a young person when they return to the community is a key part of Reclaiming Futures. Leaders from businesses, schools, faith-based organizations, and civic groups are involved in identifying and providing opportunities to our youth.
